7. Setting up parameters
7.1. Setting energy unit.
You can choose
either kJ (kilojoules)
or kcal (kilocalories, also known as large calorie =Ca).
7.2. Setting the reference for percent computing.
The reference can be the overall mass of the meal, or its energy value.
The high energetic value of fats will make all points in the triangle shift away from the fat apex if you choose mass instead of energy as reference for proportions.v
7.3. Balanced meal.
The default target for a balanced meal has been set to ½ of the energy coming from carbohydrate,1/3 from fat, 1/6 from protein.
This default target is an average and is a convenient thumb rule. It may be correct for a standard adult, but should be modified to fit cases such as pregnancy, a growing child, or a training sportsman.
The default target is saved under the name balance in the available food list and can be edited as any other food, using the food manager form (see section 6.1).
